How Much Does Social Media Management Cost? What You Should Get for Your Money

October 20, 2026 · Socialrt Team
Three pricing cards comparing a freelancer, a done-for-you team and an agency, with check and cross marks

If you have ever searched for social media management pricing, you have probably noticed that nobody wants to give a straight answer. Quotes range from a few dollars a post to a full agency retainer, and it is hard to tell what you are actually getting.

This guide explains what drives the price, what is often hidden, and how to compare your options fairly. At the end we share our own prices, because we think you should be able to see them before you talk to anyone.

What you are really paying for

Social media management is much more than posting. A complete service usually includes:

  • Strategy: deciding what to say, to whom, and on which platforms
  • Content creation: design, copywriting, photography or video editing
  • Planning: a content calendar, so you never scramble for ideas
  • Publishing: scheduling posts at good times
  • Engagement: replying, following and interacting with your audience
  • Reporting: checking what worked so next month is better

When a price looks very low, one or more of these is usually missing. That is not always a problem, but you should know which parts you will still have to do yourself.

What drives the price

Five things move the price more than anything else:

  1. How much content you need. Twelve posts a month and thirty posts a month are very different amounts of work.
  2. The type of content. A designed feed post, a carousel and an edited video need different skills and different time. Video usually costs more per piece than a still image.
  3. How many platforms. Each platform has its own formats, sizes and audience habits.
  4. Paid advertising. Running ads is a separate job from posting. It has its own management fee, and the money spent on the ads comes on top.
  5. Growth and engagement work. Reaching out to new audiences takes time every single day, so it is usually priced separately.

Two costs people confuse: management fee and ad spend

If you run ads on Facebook or Instagram, there are two different costs. The management fee pays the people who build and maintain your campaigns. The ad spend is the budget that goes to the platform (Meta) to show your ads.

A provider that quotes you one number without saying which one it is can leave you with a surprise later. Always ask: “Does this price include the ad budget?” At Socialrt, ad spend is paid directly to Meta and is never part of our fee.

The common ways to pay

Prices vary too much by country and industry for an average to be useful, so we will not quote one. Here is how the main models tend to work instead:

  • Freelancer: flexible and often affordable, but you depend on one person’s availability and range of skills.
  • Agency retainer: a full team and a strategy, usually with a longer commitment and a higher monthly cost.
  • In-house hire: the most control, and also a salary, tools and management time.
  • Done-for-you subscription: a fixed monthly price for a defined amount of content, usually without a long contract.

Our guide to choosing between doing it yourself, a freelancer and a done-for-you team goes into the trade-offs in more detail.

Hidden costs to watch for

Before you sign anything, check for:

  • Setup or onboarding fees
  • Long contracts or cancellation fees
  • Extra charges for revisions
  • Content you pay for but cannot use, or unclear ownership
  • A low headline price that leaves out video, design or scheduling
  • Ad budget that is never mentioned

What our plans cost

We publish our prices, so here they are. Everything is in US dollars, billed monthly, with no contract.

  • Social media posts: 12 posts a month for $99, 20 for $169, or 30 for $269. Custom-branded and fully managed.
  • Short-form videos: 4 a month for $69, 8 for $129, or 12 for $199. Edited and captioned.
  • Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn growth: $89 a month for each. Organic growth, done by hand, with no bots.
  • Meta ads management: $199 a month for a fully managed campaign. Ad spend is paid to Meta separately.

To picture it: a business that wants to post about three times a week needs roughly 12 posts a month, which is our $99 plan. Add 4 short videos for $69 and you have a consistent, professional presence for $168 a month.

Plans are month to month, and new customers have a 14-day guarantee on their first month. The details are on our refund policy page.

Questions to ask any provider

  1. What exactly is included each month, and how many pieces of content?
  2. Who creates the content, and who approves it before it goes live?
  3. How many rounds of changes are included?
  4. Is there a contract, and how do I cancel?
  5. Is the ad budget included, or separate?
  6. What happens if I am not happy with the first batch?
  7. What will you need from me, and how long until I see the first content?

How to choose a budget

Start with the smallest plan that lets you post consistently, then grow when you see results. Consistency matters more than volume: a steady twelve posts a month usually does more for a small business than thirty posts in one burst followed by silence.
